Buh-bye Bond Street, hello Caulfield's. This here is the newest dining destination open yesterday at the Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills, conceived by Laurie Mulstay and Ron Marino (Magnolia, The Bar, Bar Chloe). We've been following the inception for a few months now, orginally chef Michael Bryant (Palihouse) was on board to cook, however he hasn't been affiliated with the project for over a month. In the kitchen now is chef Cody Diegel (Magnolia) who has created a New American bistro menu.
Gone is Bond Street's black, gray, and cream Asian aesthetic, in places comes a bright white bistro area up front with tropical foliage painted on to brick walls, then past the bar are two more rooms housing traditional and round booths, capturing an overall Americana feel.
And while Bond Street and its New York heritage are now deceased here at the Thompson, a new group of New Yorkers are aboard Caulfield's. The restaurant's wine program is run by Christian Hammer of NYC's Pastis and Balthazaar, meanwhile the bar is helmed by Anthony Settecase of NYC's Pravda and LA's Las Perlas.
