At Long Last, Jeremy Fox Lands in LA, Consulting at Freddy Smalls Bar and Kitchen

New, 1 comment

It was only a matter of time. A year and a half ago former NorCal Ubuntu chef Jeremy Fox was spotted about town and sources claimed he was thinking about opening an LA restaurant (those rumors still swirl). He ended up taking a position in Oakland at Daniel Patterson's Plum, and now Grub Street reports that Fox has accepted a consulting gig at The Counter founder Jeff Weinstein's new West LA American haunt named Freddy Smalls Bar and Kitchen.

And since Fox won't necessarily be in the kitchen on a daily basis, former Plum chef Charlie Parker will take on the executive chef role. Alcoholic opportunities are guided by David Fleisher (Seven Grand), expect cocktails and 12 beers on tap.

Freddy Smalls Bar and Kitchen is located on a fairly random strip of Pico Blvd near Gateway, and judging from the restaurant's facade, it looks nearly built-out. The El Serape signage from the building's previous incarnation remains, though has been glossed up (doesn't look like it's coming down any time soon) and apparently this spot is set to open in December.
