Short Cake and Single Origin Coffee Open 9AM on Friday

New, 9 comments

After countless updates, spot checks, and general musings, the late Amy Pressman's Short Cake bakery, located a rolling pin away from newbie Short Order at The Original Farmers Market, officially opens Friday at 9AM. BUT if you want a sneak peek, the bakery is semi-soft open at the moment, so if you're nice management might let you in for an early taste. And here are just a few reasons to salivate: Chocolate Cardamom Cream Cake, Chiffon with Orange Curd and Meringue Cake, Apple Cider Spice Cake. But that's most certainly not all. Bakers Hourie Sahakian and Ramon Ramirez, formerly of La Brea Bakery and Anisette Brasserie respectively, source organic, local, and artisanally produced ingredients when possible for baked goods like croissants, muffins, scones, cookies, bars, pies, quiches, bread pudding, and, of course, cakes. By way of example, butter, milk, cream etc comes from Straus Dairy, bacon from North Country, preserves from SQIRL, and chocolate from Tcho.

Not limited to sweets, Short Order also spans the gamut of savory pastries, so one could come by for lunch and snag a daily tartine (ham and cheese, turkey and wild mushroom) or a Quiche with Bacon, Leek and Comte.

And with the debut of Short Cake comes Single Origin Coffee, barista Nik Krankl's coffee bar that focuses on single origin coffees and pour-over coffee brewed to order. Hours of operation run 9AM to 9PM daily.
