Status: Opens tonight
Papilles is Santos Uy's shoebox-sized French bistronomy restaurant on Franklin near Argyle. A few coats of paint, some new furniture, plus added tile, and the previous Raffallo's pizza dive has been transformed into a straightforward new neighborhood haunt wherein chef Tim Carey (Patina Restaurant Group) serves a weekly change three to four course set dinner menu priced between $25 to $40. Carafes of wine, one red and one white, change weekly, too. Over the past few days Papilles held a soft friends and family opening, and today marks the eatery's public reveal.
First impression, the kitchen and dining space stand in stark contrast to one another. The restaurant is so intimate and the kitchen is so open that one actually feels as though one is eating in the kitchen. Classical music, tasteful art, and fresh flowers in the "dining room," juxtaposed against bright kitchen lights, a sea of stainless steel, and a refrigerated soda case. However, a fitting and needed addition to the hood. Papilles is open from 6-11PM Monday through Thursday, and from 6PM to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
