Erin McKenna is furiously working all day today to prepare her second Los Angeles installation of BabyCakes - the NYC-based vegan bakeshop known for well executed dairy-free (and now gluten-free!) sweets. If all goes according to schedule, meaning final inspections and such, McKenna intends on opening tomorrow morning at 11AM in that small space on Larchmont previously occupied by Pinkberry. While the requisite cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and loaves will stock the shelves, the Larchmonet bakery emphasizes donuts (in these flavors) and a new 100% gluten-free menu. One additional bonus: made-to-order waffles. Hours of operation run Mon to Thu, 8AM-9PM; Fri to Sat, 8AM-10PM, and Sun, 8AM-6PM.

Update: This just in from owner Erin McKenna: "Our water was two degrees below health requirements so we are stuck until re-inspection Thursday. The problem has already been solved so once the inspector signs us off on Thurs we'll be open for business at 8am on Friday."
