AKA A Bistro Brings Old Town Gourmet American Eats

On February 9 Robert Simon (Bistro 45) opened the doors to his newest American eatery, AKA A Bistro. After an eight month overhaul he re-outfitted the former Gordon Biersch space into a classic American tavern with culinary offerings headed by executive chef Jonathan Weiner. But let's start with the space. During the day AKA is flooded with natural light via its floor to ceiling glass doors that open on to its spacious outdoor patio. Inside AKA is simply designed with a modern approach, mostly black and brown hues found in both the furniture and wall color. A few exposed brick walls add to the overall bistro feel.

The restaurant takes pride in carefully sourcing its ingredients, sustainable and organic when possible, some of its purveyors include Melissa's Produce, Snake River Farms Beef, Priarie Fresh Pork, Basila Farms Olive Oil, Sonoma Vinegar Works, and Maryland Farms Game Hen. As one would expect from an American bistro, the menu offers everything from soups/salads to sandwiches and additional entrees. There's definitely a mix and high and low cuisine, seared foie gras and a roasted game hen salad make an appearance, but those looking for something a bit more basic can opt for a mixed green salad or a burger, with a gourmet twist. AKA A Bistro is now open for lunch Mon-Fri, 11:30AM-3:30PM, Sat-Sun, 11:30AM-5PM; and dinner Mon-Thu, 5-9:30PM, Fri-Sat, 5-11PM.
