SANTA MONICA Yesterday afternoon Eater spotted Andrew Kirschner posting preliminary signage for Tar & Roses, his forthcoming eatery on Santa Monica and 6th. ATWATER VILLAGE Phew. Viet Noodle Bar was only temporarily shuttered, not gone for good. The restaurant is now back in biz. [LAW]

DOWNTOWN Angel City Brewing opens its first Downtown brewery on March 17. However, before the grand launch, owner Michael Bowe plans to transform an empty lot across the street into a mini beer festival where he will sell his own beer plus other craft brews by bottle on March 4-6, 11-15; Friday, 5PM-1AM, Sat-Sun, 12PM-1AM. HOLLYWOOD This weekend Hollywood Blvd newcomer Maui and Sons will broadcast the Academy Awards across its 10 flat screens. Also, in the Egyptian Theatre courtyard, come by for bbq and volleyball games. Guests' $5 donation benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
