Sheesh, it's already time to start thinking about the 2011 Grilled Cheese Invitational, a day of cheesy excess (and, generally MASSIVE lines). Tickets went on sale yesterday, and cost $12 a pop here, or $15 at the gate. This year the competition/festival grills up on April 23, 11AM-6PM, at the same fenced-in concrete jungle as last year, L.A. Center Studios, downtown. Some slight tweaks and additions have been made, attendees can expect more competitors, more bystanders, and more professional chefs. However, what festival organizers are most excited about is the addition of a fourth grilled cheese category, Love, American Style, which calls for simply white bread, orange-colored cheese, and butter. No other flavors or ingredients allowed. Check out the festival's website for specific rules and regulations.
