Villetta Preps For Southern Italian Service in Santa Monica

Last night Eater received an invite to the soft private opening cocktail party for Villetta, that delayed Southern Italian restaurant across from the Brentwood Country Mart. Villetta takes over the former Chez Mimi space and, judging by the March 24 pre-opening soiree, a public debut is sure to follow shortly thereafter. As a reminder, the venue underwent a lengthy three million dollar renovation and part of the opening holdup was due to extra permitting needed because the space is deemed a landmark. Anyway, much of that renovation was spent restoring and reviving the structure, so expect a rustic Old World feel.

To eat chef Pippa Calland draws upon her Le Madri (NYC) past in crafting seasonal Southern Italian plates. Stay tuned for menu details and opening specifics.
