From two separate sources comes word that Dolce Group's four year old American eatery, Ketchup, is down for the count. Per voicemail and outside signage, Ketchup is "closed for remodeling." A reader shares a similar such story: "My friend and I had a reservation at Ketchup on Wednesday, March 23 but the day before, I received a call saying that the place was closed for remodeling and that I could reschedule at Geisha House instead. Today, in my inbox, I got an e-mail informing me that I was receiving a refund on my Open Table coupon for $40 of food for $20. When I was in there last for restaurant week in January, it was busy but not packed on a Thursday night. What I had was good, especially the soup and the dessert. The service was a little spotty, though."
However, the plot thickens because apparently a production crew was on site two days ago interviewing chefs for some new realty show, supposedly one producer has worked with MTV in the past. Word in to Dolce, stay tuned for updates. [EaterWire]
Update: According to Dolce Group, Ketchup will undergo a 30-day remodel and reopen as Ketchup. Management hopes to retain as much of the current kitchen staff as possible.
