HOLLYWOOD— Grub Street reports on Next Door Lounge, the annexed bar soon to be attached to The Corner on Highland. The opening is still set for late April, the 4,000 square-foot industrial space will offer fire pits, a built-in waterfall (oh my), reinvented vintage cocktails, and a fusion-y food menu. [Grub Street]
BEVERLY HILLS— Taberna Mexicana, that new (obviously) Mexican eatery which overtook Luau, will now launch in May, not April. [LAW]
THAI TOWN— That "Indian restaurant" under construction next to Harvard & Stone has been named LA Spice. [The Feast]
OUT AND ABOUT— Over the weekend LA Weekly food critic Jonathan Gold, in a Facebook-based Q&A, offered some advice for "journalists going into the food writing world": "[R]ead widely, eat widely, ask lots of questions, and be humble before the subject, because if you don't it will reach out and crush you like a bug. Also, it helps if you find a tiny corner of the food universe to call your own - become the go-to person on salsify, beefalo or Amish vegetable cookery." [Facebook via Eater National]
