Details on Next Door Lounge, J. Gold on Food Writing, more!

HOLLYWOOD Grub Street reports on Next Door Lounge, the annexed bar soon to be attached to The Corner on Highland. The opening is still set for late April, the 4,000 square-foot industrial space will offer fire pits, a built-in waterfall (oh my), reinvented vintage cocktails, and a fusion-y food menu. BEVERLY HILLS Taberna Mexicana, that new (obviously) Mexican eatery which overtook Luau, will now launch in May, not April. [LAW]

THAI TOWN That "Indian restaurant" under construction next to Harvard & Stone has been named LA Spice. [The Feast]

OUT AND ABOUT Over the weekend LA Weekly food critic Jonathan Gold, in a Facebook-based Q&A, offered some advice for "journalists going into the food writing world": "[R]ead widely, eat widely, ask lots of questions, and be humble before the subject, because if you don't it will reach out and crush you like a bug. Also, it helps if you find a tiny corner of the food universe to call your own - become the go-to person on salsify, beefalo or Amish vegetable cookery." [Facebook via Eater National]
