Doughboys Bakery Brings Red Velvet Cake To Beverly Blvd

New, 3 comments

On February 19, just under one year since Eater's original report, Doughboys, the popular Third Street lunch spot celebrated for its signature red velvet cake, opened its first retail baked goods shop, Doughboys Bakery. Unfortunately, Doughboys has withstood (somewhat) its fair share of trials and tribulations, the original restaurant was forced to shutter in 2007 after violating zoning restrictions, however it finally reopened in January 2010, but then a month later Doughboys owner Frank Waldman passed away after surgery complications. Sad. Which brings us to Doughboys Bakery, a small retail space (next door to House Cafe), which serves Doughboys' roster of sweets from freshly baked baguette to croissants, to German chocolate cake, and, of course, more than enough red velvet madness. If you're lucky enough to snag one of those two outdoor bistro tables, cut the sweetness with a cup of local City Bean coffee. To place an oder call 323-852-1043.
