Perhaps Groupon DID kill The Point, Mark Peel's (Campanile, Tar Pit) year and a half old lunch spot in Culver City. In January, a Point customer purchased a Groupon deal that was unredeemable at the restaurant, and when said customer contact Peel about it, Peel claimed the Groupon deal, which he never signed off on, cost the restaurant "tens of thousands of dollars" and he also hinted at a future shutter. Here now per Facebook:
"The Point has closed. We want to thank all of our customers and supporters. Our great kitchen staff is at Campanile if you need a fix of the flattened chicken."So it goes.
