CULVER CITY— And speaking of Coolhaus, the mobile architecturally-themed ice cream sandwich slinger plans its own brick and mortar shop on Washington near Helms to debut this summer. Think the expected ice cream sammies plus Blue Bottle drip coffee and chicory iced coffee, soda floats, and ice cream cookie cakes. [Coolhaus]
STUDIO CITY— Take A Bao owner Brent Stein drops Eater a note to let us know that he has closed the deal on Kung Pao Bistro and construction for a second Take A Bao should begin in the next couple of weeks. Ana Henton of MASS Architecture (Intelligentsia Venice/Pas, Mas Malo, Lemonade) will lead the design. [EaterWire]
CULVER CITY— Today Roy Choi and the A-Frame crew introduce a new food and drink menu for Spring. Have at it. [EaterWire]
WEST LA— Midtown Lunch files a report on Komodo's new brick and mortar describing the venue as "small and sleek...looks like it could be an Asian Chipotle." As for the food, "the real standouts were the marinated asian chicken with mandarin oranges and rice- which probably makes it the perfect burrito order at Komodo. And the knock your socks off Java- a shredded pork with Indonesian rendang curry and fresh cucumber salad. The sweet richness of the meat and flavorful curry, balanced out by cool and crisp cucumber salad. I will return for Komodo for that taco alone." [ML]
