SaMo's La Serenata de Garibaldi Shutters To Become Mercado

At the end of this month La Serenata de Garibaldi will shutter its Santa Monica restaurant leaving venues in West LA and Downtown still serving. As of May 1 Jesse Gomez, owner of two year-old Yxta Cocina Mexicana downtown and Highland Park's 40 plus year-old El Arco Iris, will take over the venue to open a "fine dining" Mexican eatery, mid to late August. Gomez has hired chef Jose Acevedo (Taleo Grill in Irvine) to manage the menu with design conceived by Poonam Khanna (The York, Laurel Tavern, Yxta Cocina Mexicana). [EaterWire]
