Last September, thanks to Food & Wine's Taste of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles finally nabbed its own multi-day food festival, an event that was long overdue. As some may recall, over the same weekend, September 2-5, the LA Times held its own food festival, which, if anything, caused a bit of confusion -- which to attend? So it A) comes as no surprise, and B) was a smart idea to join these two epicurean events together to create The Taste, where the LA Times meets Food & Wine for one blowout weekend, still September 2-5. Sweet. Ness. And, this year, Lee Schrager, founder of South Beach Food & Wine and New York City Wine & Food, has come on board to consult. Double awesome.
Anyway, here's what you need to know. Tix go on sale June 1 for a slew of events/parties that will transpire in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Downtown. Fingers crossed that wine rapper Justin Warner makes it back (if you missed him last year, DO NOT miss him this year), so far attached talent includes Giada De Laurentiis, Scott Conant, Art Smith, Ludo Lefebvre, Michael Voltaggio, Claire Robinson, Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos.
As one would expect from such a culinary throwdown there will be tastings, cooking demos, Grand Tastings, wine seminars, and mixology performances with new theme events like“Burgers & Beer” and “Secrets from the Kitchen & Cellar.”
Rumor has it that P.Diddy, or Puffy, or whatever his name is nowadays, might host a Labor Day White Party in Beverly Hills, but that's still up in the air. That's all for now but quite obviously, more to come. [EaterWire]
