Rib Fest at Lucques, Dry Tour Gastropub Hits Venice, MORE!

WEHO— Lucques is holding a Rib Fest on July 24 from noon-9:30PM. Chef Suzanne Goin prepares a week in advance for this day of Saint Louis Style Pork Ribs; Braised Beef Back Ribs; Spicy Lamb Spare Ribs; “Too-Hot-To-Handle” Chicken Wings; Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Long-Cooked Greens; Grilled Cornbread; and Peach-Blackberry Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. VENICE— Yo! Venice! reports that Dry Tour Gastropub, an under construction wine bar and small plates spot, will take over the former Coffee Bean on Windward. An opening is expected around mid-September. [Yo! Venice!]

SANTA MONICA— On June 27 Drago hosts a Scorpacciata! - themed dinner (scorpacciata is an an Italian term that means indulging in large amounts of local, seasonal ingredients). Executive chef Evan Gotanda will work alongside Jeremy Strubel (Public), Brandon D’Imperio (Inner Gardens founder), and mixologist Chris Hewes (Library Bar at the Roosevelt) to prepare five courses at $65 a head and additional $25 for a cocktail pairing.

1st course Tuna Crudo
Lemon misto oil, pickled sultanas, toasted pine nuts, caramelized shallots

2nd course Beet Caramelle
Chioggia beets and greens, smoked raw milk ricotta, toasted hazelnuts and aged balsamic

3rd course Pan-Seared Branzino
Young fennel puree, crispy baby artichokes, preserved orange, taggiasca olive gremolata

4th course Chai Spiced Duck
Seared breast and red wine braised leg, baby parsnips, apricot mustarda, vin santo

5th course Cherry Dolce
Rainier and bing cherries, almonds, olive oil mousse, black pepper ice cream
