Today is just a day of non-stop shutter news. In addition to the wrap of The Charcoal Grill and Soul Daddy, Curtis Nysmith's Capitol City is no more. The bar, which opened in 2009, is under construction to reopen as a Mexican restaurant called 3Dog Cantina. Since Nysmith consistently hires Kris Keith/Spacecraft to work on his projects, from Capitol City to SmithHouse to The Blue Boar, it's no surprising to hear that Spacecraft is working on this venue as well. So far plans include a large center bar positioned under a large skylight, wood beamed ceilings, suspended walkways, leather seating, a tequila attic, and a developed back deck complete with another bar, comfortable booth seating, all surrounded by lush greenery and mission style plaster.
Apparently a "well-known celebrity chef" will design the authentic regional Mexican cuisine menu. To drink, Mexican beers and an extensive tequila list with specialty frozen cocktail machines and pitchers of margaritas. 3Dog Cantina will serve lunch, dinner, and late night dining, slated to debut this fall.
