Fundamental LA, with its spartan but spic and span interior, opened for lunch on June 13 serving a bevy of seasonal sandwiches and salads. The menu reflects a highbrow version of mixed American comfort food with local and sustainable values at its core, and showcases the diversity that is Los Angeles. There's a porchetta sandwich with sauerkraut and whole grain mustard on brioche; a chicken torta with tomato, lettuce, cotija, cream, pickled jalapenos and guacamole on bolillo bread; or maybe a Lyonnaise salad will do you. Those are some presently offered selects off the menu, but since this is a super market driven establishment, expect offerings to change day to day. Craft brews and boutique wines to come. Right now Fundamental is open Monday through Saturday from 11AM-3PM, dinner and late night service in the works. [EaterWire]
