Toddy G's Owners Part Ways

New, 24 comments

Contrary to previous reports, Toddy G's has not yet reopened. While 213 Downtown LA Nightlife (Las Perlas, Seven Grand, The Varnish) still owns the building, Toddy G's owners Salman Agah and Todd Giordanella have parted ways. Agah remains in control of the lease and property, which he now says will re-open this Friday at 5 PM. The new name has yet to be decided upon, but the concept, design and menu will be exactly as they were when the place was called Toddy G's.

So then, why the break-up? Agah hesitated before saying that Giordanella wanted to move back to New Jersey and that they both wanted to part ways. He also stressed that before opening Toddy G's, they consulted with Chef Steve Samson (Sotto LA) to develop their pizza dough and menu and that they will continue to use Samson's recipes.

Meanwhile, Eater checked with Toddy, who had a few more words to share about the break-up:

The partnership between Salman, his wife and myself became impossible. Despite what anyone tells you, the truth is I built, (with the help from my amazing team), Toddy G's up from scratch, and made it a success. All the ideas and recipes come from my family.... We decided to split and move on to bigger and better things, and put the focus on positive and happy people to work with.

Giordanella also says that he will be opening a Toddy G's in Manhattan this fall and looks forward to opening another Toddy G's "in DTLA possibly by next spring." Breaking up is hard to do.
