Daikokuya Arcadia and H&H Restaurant Open, MORE!

Welcome to Meanwhile, In SGV a regular feature in which TC, our fearless leader in all things San Gabriel Valley, brings word of restaurant openings, closings, and other unsung, curious neighborhood goings on.

1) Arcadia: The highly anticipated Daikokuya Arcadia soft opened yesterday after a month of delays. The ramen parlor's grand opening lands on Tuesday and a $3 dine-in special will be offered for the first three days of business. This is the second Daikokuya to be set inside a food court and regular business hours run Monday - Sunday: 11AM-9PM. Grand opening hours run noon to 9PM. 1220 S Golden W Ave, President Food Court

2) Monterey Park: H&H Restaurant opened in the old OT Kitchen space last week. The grand opening banner, in Chinese, touts Sichuanese cuisine, making it "officially" the 100th restaurant in San Gabriel to serve spicy Chinese food. Or was it the 101th? Either way, let's hope they start serving (spicy) $9.99 lobster specials like its Garvey Avenue neighbors. 429 W Garvey Ave

3) Monterey Park: Atlantic Time Square's latest restaurant will be Thai, not Chinese. Krung Thep has applied for beer and wine license, and is the Oonpanyo family's second Thai restaurant in greater Los Angeles. Opening date has not been confirmed, but "authentic" Thai food beyond Pad Thai and Basil Chicken is always appreciated. 500 N Atlantic Blvd #127

4) Rosemead: Bun Rieu Quan, unrecognized and seemingly unloved most weeknights, did not survive its first year despite carrying a fantastic bowl of mi quang (turmeric colored rice noodle in pork/seafood stock from Central Coastal Vietnam) and an equally pleasurable of bun bo hue. A hand written sign taped to the door simply notes the closure with no further details. 7637 Garvey Ave
