Freshii Dtown, mini yums Dessert Truck, Plate by Plate, More!

DOWNTOWN— Slightly delayed, Freshii downtown (600 W. 7th Street) is now set to open mid-July. [EaterWire]

MEALS ON WHEELS— In addition to fonuts and früute, the mini dessert trend expands to include mini yums, a food truck that launched last Friday serving mini cakes, mini cupcakes (isn't a mini cake a cupcake?), and cookies from CookieCasa. [Grub Street]

DOWNTOWN— Plate by Plate (PbP) is back for its 9th year of indulgence at Vibiana on August 6. Ticket sales benefit the Asian Youth Center (a local charity focused on providing social services to recent immigrant youth) and an impressive assembly of chefs/restaurants have signed up to cook: Aburiya Toranoko, Charlie Palmer, Chaya, Church & State, Fraiche, Guelaguetza, Jar, Maison Akira, Night+Market, Picca, Pinot Provence, Pizzeria Ortica, Raphael, The Royce, Sotto, Starry Kitchen, Vertical Wine Bistro, Laurent Quenioux, and Wood & Vine. Here's the full list inclusive of wine/beer/beverage sponsors. Early bird tickets are for sale until Monday at $125 (plus a $3.49 processing fee), then increase to $150 (plus a $3.99 processing fee).
