Father's Office has never, ever served dessert. However, as of this evening, the Culver City branch will roll out riffs off classic American sweets (all of which can be held in one's hand, no plate needed) in addition to beer/ice cream floats. The treats, crafted by Lukshon pastry chef John Park, are priced between $3 and $5 and to start FO offers Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Foie Gras Ice Cream Sandwich; Chocolate Cupcake with Old Rasputin and Imperial Stout Frosting; and a Lemon Shortbread Buttermilk Ice Cream Sandwich.
Nobody is surprised to see beer floats added to the menu, being that FO serves a varied selection of lesser known brews. The beer float program is called à la mode and includes seasonal beers paired with a scoop of house-made ice cream. For example, Sculpin IPA/Grapefruit Sorbet. Rules and Regulations: A la cart scoops of ice cream/sorbet are NOT available. No 'cross-pollination.' Each float is paired to complement flavor profiles so no mixing and matching. Beer floats can, however, be split depending on bottle size. A large 750 ml can be devided between four. So, this is all going down in Culver City as mentioned, but eventually sweets and beer floats will hit the Santa Monica FO as well. [EaterWire]
