Here now Soi 56's replacement, District 13, which opens its doors on Friday. Executive chef Aoi Ratanamanee (Rambutan, Tuk Tuk Thai) stays aboard from Soi days and this time she will focus on pub food inclusive of plain and fancy sausages in which guests can "build-your-own." Anticipate about 15 to 20 different links from beef to brat to lamb, plus elk, venison, and some vegan selections as well. Other than sausages, District will offer burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizza, fish and chips - the menu is not yet final so no specifics on these just yet.
District 13's new effort is that of a gastropub, so pairing with the brew food comes beer. Local craft beer primarily, about 15 to 20 on draft and another 15 to 50 in bottle.
Owners Katy Noochlaor, Billy Heinzman and Tozar Simich spiced up the space with graffitied walls and new colorful artwork for a more urban feel. Some of the previous Soi furniture still remains, though guests now have the option to dine/drink at the bar, at a bar table, at a dining table, or at a communal table. As of Friday District will serve daily from 11:30AM-2AM.
