The Pie Hole Brings Sweet and Savory Pies to the Arts District

New, 27 comments

One more point of proof that the Little Tokyo vicinity is b.l.o.w.i.n.g. up. Just across the street from Wurstkuche comes The Pie Hole, a hand-made sweet and savory pie plus coffee spot opened by Sean Brennan who most recently helped launch Eveleigh and served there as the GM since its inception. Alongside Sean are two additional partners, Matthew Heffner, and his mother, Rebecca Grasley, whose family has been baking award winning pies for generations. The two have always wanted to bake their pies for the public, and with the recent trending of pies, they felt the time was now right.

Brennan explains that Team Pie Hole is in the middle of buildout right now and dealing with permitting, health department, and such. Initially they had hoped to open late July, but judging from this construction situation plus permitting issues, sometime in August seems more likely. For those eager to score an early taste, pop by during Bloomfest where the tripod will demo their pie and coffee.

In other news, just next door to The Pie Hole is Bloom's Market, and a new grocery store is going into this space slated to open in August. [EaterWire]
