Riding on the success of their namesake contemporary seasonal Cali-French restaurant, Hatfield's, which relocated from its original Beverly home to a significantly larger space on Melrose last year, husband and wife team Quinn and Karen Hatfield now plan a sophomore effort. The Sycamore Kitchen will be located on La Brea across the street from American Rag and serve as a "full-service casual restaurant, with a really strong emphasis on the bakery side," according to Karen. Potential baked goods include salted caramel pecan rolls, brown butter and sour cherry scones, and whole grain quinoa muffins, meanwhile savory preparations range from poached eggs on chorizo and Yukon hash for brunch, with pork belly on baguette and pickled vegetables for lunch.
The Sycamore Kitchen is expected to open early 2012 encompassing 2,000 square feet of indoor and courtyard patio dining space, "loft-style windows and exposed brick." Anticipated hours of operation are 8AM-8PM.
