Almost One Year Post Fire, Axe on Abbot Kinney Serves Again

New, 8 comments

Close to one full year since Venice neighborhood staple Axe closed after a fire, the seasonal brunch, lunch, and dinner spot has relaunched as its old self. Last weekend Axe soft opened for friends and family, but as of this Wednesday the restaurant has officially reopened.

For the most part, Axe looks like Axe. That front wooden bar with a view into the kitchen remains as it was, same simple black wooden tables, there are some new trees in the dining room, and that outdoor back patio is now receiving more attention.

These right here are the newly launched (not completely finalized) brunch, lunch, and dinner menus. Don't worry, the overall seasonal, slightly Asian approach to food stays intact, The Pancake is still on there, and for lunch owner Joanna Moore added a "composed bowl," similar to the "composed plate" but in bowl form and quinoa can be subbed for brown rice. With a few coats of fresh paint, some interior tweaks, and updated menus, Axe is back.
