Andrew Sasson may have been the first to infuse Vegas with a dose of NYC nightlife when he opened Light (now The Bank) in the Bellagio back in 2001, but Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg quickly followed suit debuting Tao in 2005. As Tao has been one of the city’s most successful venues, it is no surprise that when this duo transplanted their NYC institution Marquee to The Cosmopolitan it would do well. Apparently, so well that every New York operator and their mother has taken notice. Earlier this week came word that Light Group would shutter Jet and partner with Richie Akiva, Scott Sartiano, and Richie Madra to transform the space into NYC hotspot 1Oak. Insiders tell us now that this is DEFINITELY happening and they are working to secure Diddy to host the opening festivities. Also getting in on the action is Simon Hammerstein who we hear is in talks to bring his exclusive Lower East Side burlesque club The Box to The Palazzo. Over at The Hard Rock word is that EMM Group (Tenjune), David Sarner and Robert Montwaid (Pink Elephant), and The One Group (STK, Bagatelle) have all expressed interest in the defunct Body English space. — David Morris
