Following in the wheels of Komodo, Flying Pig Truck, Coolhaus, and Lake Street Creamery, now The Park's Finest wants to open a non-mobile restaurant. The catering truck, which serves a "Filipino take on traditional American cuts of BBQ," is asking for help to meet its goal of $20,000 to open a brick and mortar spot in Echo Park. "We are a crew of friends and family from low-income, working-class, immigrant communities, with limited formal education and nearly no money. We grew up during a time of violence in Los Angeles during the 80's and 90's. Local activists, organizers, counselors, teachers, gangsters, and other community leaders kept us out of trouble by teaching us how to organize ourselves and our peers. BBQ literally kept us from being shot," says the website. In exchange for donations management will grant donors TPF gear, meal discounts, and catering services. So far TPF has reached $3,380, donate here. [EaterWire]
