Has the paint even dried at Picca yet? Because Food & Wine's Best New Chef winner Ricardo Zarate is on the move again, this time working out a riff off his claim-to-fame popular downtown Peruvian haunt inside Mercado La Paloma, Mo-Chica. Mo-Chica on 7 aims to served as a refined version of the original Mo-Chica and should debut this fall. Zarate once again partnered up with GM Stephane Bombet of Picca and construction is currently underway.
However, this isn't altogether news. Last November an employee at the original Mo-Chica confirmed that Zarate had purchased space on 7th Street downtown near Bottega Louie for another Mo-Chica, and this here is it. Zarate fans can look forward to a rustic modern aesthetic with 82 seats inclusive of banquette and communal dining. There will be a full bar and an expanded Mo-Chica menu (10 starters, 10 entrees, desserts, specials) plus tbd cocktails, maybe crafted by Julian Cox?
