Status: Opens tonight
The owners of that newly launched Rocco's restaurant in Culver City will debut a speakeasy called Seventy 7 tonight. The bar actually takes over the shuttered Tokyo 7-7 and guests enter through an alley behind the eatery under a neon "Cocktails" sign. Inside one will find the usual suspects - leather booths, dark wood, dim lighting - in which one can enjoy a Velvet Underground (Champagne, Velvet Fulcrum, Crème de Violette) or a Moulin Rouge (Lucid Absinthe, Plymouth Gin, muddled Strawberries, passion fruit puree, simple syrup). To enter one must be equipped with the password of the day which is tweeted out daily via @seventy7la. Tonight's word of pass is "Prohibition" and "proper attire" (no jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, ball caps) is required. Seventy 7 is open nightly from 5PM to 2AM.
