1) Beverly Hills: After just over one month of business, Beverly Hills' newest dessert doctor, Venga, has shuttered. Pastry chef Kriss Harvey writes in to say that owner Shahriar Besharat sold a percentage of the cafe and it will reopen as a Middle Eastern restaurant. The entire staff was fired yesterday and demo beings asap. Five weeks and said new eatery will be up and running. [EaterWire]
2) West LA: Last week Sushi Mac on Sawtelle closed up shop and posted the above pictured note to customers. Management has updated the restaurant's website to reflect this loss, though the 3rd Street location still remains. [EaterWire]
Update: Venga owner Shahriar Besharat writes in to say that Venga is not shuttered at all and is operating as usual: "...apparently my previous chef has written directly to let you know that we are Done. Actually I haven't sold any shares, I have just changed chefs. Our neighborhood is starving for a new lunch we are re-conceptualizing our breakfast, lunch and dinner offering."
