Here now, an update from Santa Monica's still under construction chic new eco-friendly property, the Shore Hotel. As previously reported, BP Taco LLC has taken over a ground floor space to launch a concept titled Plato Azul (or Blue Plate in Spanish), and as that post's lone commenter speculated, yes, this restaurant is indeed from those behind Blue Plate and the newer Blue Plate Oysterette. Plato Azul will be a Mexican version of Blue Plate and should open in January 2012.
As for the hotel itself, there's one more food/beverage space available and management is actively recruiting potential candidates to open a bar there. But nothing has been decided yet. Right now Shore Hotel will begin accepting room reservations on October 7 with a soft-launch shortly thereafter. Until the property is fully up and running, guests will have the option to order room service from True Food Kitchen, just steps away.

Update: PR says the eatery will be named Blue Plate Taco, offer indoor/outdoor seating for 70, and serve lunch and dinner daily. Think tacos, salads, grilled seafood, meats, and homemade tortillas, plus a full bar.
