Tender Greens Is Now Open in Santa Monica

The 3,800 square foot Santa Monica rendition of Tender Greens opened on Saturday in the former Lighthouse Buffet home after a few last minute delays. The chainlet that now boasts seven sustainably-built locations mostly around Los Angeles (there's one cafe in SD and one in Walnut Creek) has experienced pretty rapid growth for a concept born just five years ago in Culver City. But, even way back in the day owners foresaw expansion around town, and many of their predicted locations have come true.

Following the fast casual model, Tender Greens cafes all offer the same seasonally-inspired base menu of salads, sandwiches, soups, grilled proteins with a few specials sprinkled in. For example, here chef Rian Brandenburg (Lodge at Torrey Pines) adds seafood preparations like a Grilled Octopus Salad (wild arugula, roasted fingerling potatoes, shaved fennel, marinated chickpeas and grilled lemon vinaigrette) and a Tuna Conserva Salad (olive oil-poached tuna, slow-cooked egg, radish, red onion, celery hearts, and a arugula and lemon vinaigrette).

Just like the newly opened Pasadena location, SM TG is also 100% bottle-less which means that all wine, beer, water and house-made soda will be served through a draft system. Hours of operation run Sun-Thu 11:30AM to 9PM, and Friday-Sat 11:30AM-10PM.
