Last night chef Joe Miller of Joe's on Abbot Kinney and Bar Pintxo on Santa Monica, held a special friends and family dinner party to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his namesake restaurant on Abbot Kinney. During the meal Joe announced plans to give back to the community by inviting in 12 guest chefs to cook at Joe's over the course of the next year. Once a month starting in November, a different friend/chef (many of which have actually worked at Joe's) will prepare a multi course meal and a portion of proceeds will be donated to charity, a different charity each dinner. Even Dan Barber of Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York has signed up to play!
In addition to Barber, there's a pretty stellar roster of chefs who have agreed to participate. Here's the list so far: November, Walter Manzke (formerly Church & State); December, Josiah Citrin (Melisse); January, Trey Foshee (George’s at the Cove, San Diego); February, Jason Knibb (Nine-Ten, San Diego); March, Andrew Kirschner (Tar & Roses); April, Dan Barber (Blue Hill, NYC); May, Mark Gold (Eva).
