Obviously kevinEats A) scored a resy on the opening night (last night) of Michael Voltaggio's ink. and B) was the first to publish a piece on the meal, yesterday, mind you. Kevin says the menu is composed of "a well-edited list of small plates" and that he ordered two of everything for his party of four. He sings words of praise for mostly every dish on the menu, some standouts are the corned beef, described as "superb, one of the strongest dishes on the menu," and the mushroom congee which was "easily one of the best porridges that I'd ever had." Overall he decides that, "the wait was worth it." Volt is "churning out food that's undeniably haute, expertly executed, beautifully plated, yet whimsical and playful. The cooking is irrefutably complex, with scads of the modernist flair that the Chef is known for, but familiar and strangely comforting at the same time. Despite being opening night, service was totally on point as well...If this is the future of Los Angeles cuisine, then sign me up." [kevinEats]
