Welcome back to another Plywood Report, where we track some of the latest openings around town. Spot something new that we've missed? Let us know. 1) WeHo: The shuttered Ice Pan space on Santa Monica Blvd has been claimed by Flame Broiler, a quick-serve Asian rice bowl chain that already has a slew of locations around the city. This is the menu. [EaterWire]
2) Echo Park: From those behind Chimu comes Red Hill, the American diner taking over the former Phoenix Bakery space on Echo Park Avenue. The Eastsider says that the neighborhood council’s planning committee is in support of a beer and wine license for the venue. [The Eastsider]
3) Santa Monica: The Mirror reports that a new restaurant called Piazza al Mare will open at 250 Santa Monica Pier. In command of this project is partners Franco Sorgi and Paolo Simeone who also own Trastevere restaurant on the Third Street Promenade and La Piazza in The Grove. Pier-goers can expect a more upscale eatery encompassing 9,000 square feet spread between three dining levels. The target opening is spring 2012. [SMM]
4) WeHo: There's an ABC license taped to the window in the previous home of that Puma Social Club pop-up. "Saia Restaurant Group LLC" is involved and Grub Street thought the restaurant could be related to a popular Fort Lauderdale sushi concept. Maybe, maybe not. [EaterWire]
5) Downtown: The Korean pizzeria, Mr. Pizza, is headed downtown to 1st Street near San Pedro. No word on opening date but the restaurant recently started hiring employees. [EaterWire]
6) Downtown: There's an ABC noticed posted in the window of Sushi Takumi, transitioning the space over to Kula Revolving Sushi Bar. Looks like it's realated to this recently discussed Japanese chain. [EaterWire]
