Coachella Planning: Jose Garces Opening Tinto, Workshop Kitchen & Bar Debuting Soon

Chef Michael Beckman's Workshop Kitchen & Bar slated to open pre-Coachella.

This week Goldenvoice announced the lineup for Coachella's 2012 hot desert indie music festival and the buzz, weekend one or weekend two?, is starting. The January 13 issue of The Hollywood Reporter lists a gang of new hotels and restaurants springing up before April 13, here's a quick rundown on recently added and forthcoming places of note:

*The Saguaro: Operated by Joie de Vivre, expected to debut in February. THIS is where Philly-based chef Jose Garces will open a second branch of Tinto, a small plates wine bar and restaurant focused on the flavors of Northern Spain and Southern France. Rooms start at $169; website; 1800 E. Palm Canyon Dr.

Hotel Lautner: A mid-century boutique property with just four units, renovated by Tracy Beckmann (The Tar Pit) and furniture designer Ryan Towbridge. No on site dining however rooms come equipped with kitchens. Rooms start at $200; website; 67710 San Antonio St.

*Workshop Kitchen & Bar: This previously mentioned farm-to-table addition from chef Michael Beckman is still on schedule to open early 2012. A classic cocktail menu is in the works, more photos here. 800 N. Palm Canyon Dr.

Birba: Management behind Cheeky's opened Birba about five months ago. The modern, open restaurant serves an assortment of pizzas plus wine and specialty cocktails. website; 622 N. Palm Canyon Dr.
