Right next door to George Abou-Daoud's Rosewood Tavern on Fairfax sits his newest project, Urban Garden, slated to open mid-next week. A quick, casual, and approachable ode to the flavors of the Mediterranean and Lebanon, the long, narrow restaurant is ready to serve with staff training currently taking place. This is Abou-Daoud's first Urban Garden prototype and he plans to open more throughout the city.
No beer or wine on Fairfax (though Abou-Daoud wants to serve beer/wine at future outposts), instead there's fresh pressed juice, lemonade, and iced tea to go alongside Bowls, Dips, and Salads to which one adds fried cauliflower, grape leaves, beef kefta, and more. Ingredients are organic and sourced locally when possible.
As Urban Garden preps for its launch and The Bowery celebrates its seventh birthday, Abou-Daoud is already scheming his next food endeavor.
