After nearly two years of licensing and construction issues, the team behind South restaurant/bar in Santa Monica is about a month away from opening The Garage, a hip, neighborhood sports bar. The outdoor beer garden looks nearly finished, with a large tap system poking out and a vintage car hood hanging overhead on the facade. Management cites plumbing problems that led to permitting delays, but it seems more likely that delays could be associated with the public school just a block away.
The lunch and dinner menu will not venture far from the South formula — burgers, fried food, beer, cocktails, and more. Also in South fashion, expect plenty of TVs for sports viewing.
