Brian Malarkey's Herringbone to LA, Searsucker to Austin

New, 11 comments

In his quest for global expansion, Top Cheftestapent Brian Malarkey is next looking to Austin and Los Angeles. Malarkey, along with business partner James Brennan and designer Thomas Schoos, opened Olubugo in Uganda earlier this year and just launched an outpost of Searsucker two weeks ago in Scottsdale. Reps for Malarkey confirm that Searsucker will expand to Austin in June 2013, meanwhile Herringbone, Malarkey's seafood-based eatery in La Jolla, will land inside a prime Sunset Boulevard hotel, although the deal has yet to be inked.

As for former Los Angeles chef Amanda Baumgarten who decamped from Water Grill to head up Herringbone in La Jolla, she will remain at the San Diego property.
