The Blind Donkey Whiskey Bar Opens Wednesday in Pas

In West Hollywood beer master Ryan Sweeney opened The Surly Goat, and on Wednesday in Pasadena he plus partners Brandon Bradford, Alen Aivazian and John Bower launch The Blind Donkey, a whiskey bar stocked with 65+ bottles of American craft whiskey and Scotch. Naturally, The Blind Donkey also serves draft beer, 10 handles, highlighting local breweries. Sweeney explains that the bar "will not be mixology-focused, but we will have a seasonal cocktail selection."

Not a huge departure from Dish Bistro with its brick walls, exposed ceiling, and black/red palette, but a fitting concept for the space nonetheless.

While The Blind Donkey is a bar first and foremost, it will eventually serve a concise menu of American classics with contemporary touches. However, edibles will roll out in the next few weeks so don't plan to eat upon launch. Test runs are planned for tonight and tomorrow, with the public push on Wednesday.

Hours of operation to run nightly from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Hours will eventually grow to facilitate day drinking.
