Status: Opened yesterday
Il Piccolo Ritrovo, the Italian trattoria which replaces J's Trattoria on Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades, officially launched yesterday with its fancypants $25k wood-burning oven that fires at 1000°F and cooks a pizza pie in 90 seconds. The restaurant has been completely overhauled by owners Tarcisio Mosconi (Tra di Noi in Malibu) and Nando Silvestri (Spumoni), bringing in chef Elder Ramirez (Tra di Noi) who is preparing a lengthy menu (page one) clad with both Neapolitan and NY-style pizzas, and somewhat standard appetizers, pastas and proteins from fried calamari to veal in a white wine lemon sauce. Right now the restaurant offers wine by the bottle and glass, beer selections still to come. Or, BYO for $15. Lunch service runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. both inside and on the dog-friendly outdoor patio.
