Big news by way of the Suzanne Goin empire. On the subject of West Third Street, Goin — proprietor and chef of Lucques, Tavern, the Larder, and AOC — is moving the latter, her nearly decade old seasonal small plate wine and cheese hub, to the currently functioning Il Covo space (previously Orso) further down on West Third Street. Il Covo will shutter at the end of the year.
So what will make AOC 2.0 different from AOC in its current domain? With the move comes a full farmers market-driven bar program headed by Christiaan Rollich (oversees all Goin bars) and a wood burning oven for new dishes plus focaccia and Paella creations Goin has tested over the last year or so. AOC chef de cuisine Lauren Herman will lead the kitchen and add both lunch and brunch service. BOOM. [EaterWire]
