This month, between Election Day and Thanksgiving Day, Los Angeles restauranteurs, chefs and food purveyors have come up with more than a few great events to entertain both the mind and belly. From chocolate and candy tastings to a yoga and beer class, November is gearing up for the holidays in a big way. Highlights include this weekend's EATS of Borneo! where our hero, Jonathan Gold and Top Chef Masters' judge Krista Simmons will preside, next weekend's anniversary party at 1886 Bar and The Second Annual Taste of Mexico at the end of the month. The Market on Holly's November Producer Series
When: Saturday, November 10 from 12-2 p.m.
Where: The Market on Holly; 57 E. Holly St., Pasadena
What: As part of a regular series highlighting local food producers, The Market on Holly welcomes Morning Glory Confections to the shop for a tasting and meet and great with Morning Glory's Max Lesser. Morning Glory's signature toffees and brittles will be available for purchase.

EATS of Borneo!

What: A food tasting event, EATS of Borneo's mission is to support East of Borneo, a two-year old collaborative online magazine of contemporary art. Hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold and Top Chef Masters judge Krista Simmons, the event features plenty of local talent and their signature bites. Drinks, raffles, and more.
How: $35 per person in advance; $40 per person at the door; $80 per person for unlimited food and drink.
Detox/Retox Saturdays at the Pub at Golden Road
When: Saturday, November 10/17/24, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Where: The Pub at Golden Road; 5410 W. San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles
What: Every Saturday morning, Ashtanga Yoga instructor Robert Rice will lead a yoga class on the lawn outside Golden Road. Directly afterwards, yogis can enjoy a beer courtesy of the pub.
How: $10 per person includes beginner/intermediate class and a beer. Participants are asked to bring yoga mats, a towel, and a block (optional).
GO Burger and BLT Steak Honor Veterans
When: Monday, November 12
Where: GO Burger & BLT Steak; Hollywood, West Hollywood
What: This Monday is Veterans' Day, and to honor veterans and armed service members, GO Burger and BLT Steak (part of ESquared Hospitality Group) will offer veterans and their guests a discount of 25-50% off their total check.

Frank Cornelissen Winemaker Dinner at Sotto
When: Sunday, November 11, 7 p.m.
Where: Sotto; 9575 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles
What: Chefs Steve & Zach welcome Frank Cornelissen and special guest Lou Amdur into Sotto with a six-course Sicilian menu to pair with Etna wines.

Venice Social Presents a Craft Cocktail Tasting
When: Friday, November 16, 6 - 10 p.m.
Where: Venice Social; 46 Windward Ct. in Venice Beach
What: Isosceles will serve ala carte snacks & sandwiches in addition to aguas frescas, gourmet ice pops and natural sodas from paletas Don Hielo. There is a salt tasting, a craft cocktail tasting and plenty of bread pudding from Schulzies.
How: Event is free and open to the public. There is a suggested $20 per person donation for the cocktail tasting.
Celebrate 1886 Bar at The Raymond's Second Anniversary
When: Saturday, November 17, 8 p.m - 1 a.m.
Where: The Raymond; 1250 S. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena
What: It's hard to believe that The Raymond's 1886 Bar opened two years ago. To celebrate, the Pasadena hot spot is hosting an all-out party with specialty hand-crafted cocktails, a selection of wines, craft beers, as well as hors d'oeuvres, small plates, and desserts prepared by Executive Chef Tim Guiltinan and Pastry Chef Jeffrey Haines.
How: RSVP required. Tickets are $86 per person in advance, or $100 at the door.
GETTING OUR JUST DESSERTS - A Sweet Extravaganza - To Benefit C-CAP LA
When: Saturday, November 17, 2 p.m.
Where: The Art Institute of Los Angeles; 2900 31st St., Santa Monica
What:This dessert tasting event promises celebrity pastry chefs, confectioners, bakeries, coffee and tea purveyors; hands-on classes; cookbook signings and a pastry chef dessert challenge, live. The event benefits Careers through Culinary Arts Program LA.
How: Tickets: $50 for general admission, $100 for VIP access.
The Chocolate Invitational
When: Saturday November 17, from 11:30-10 p.m.
Where: Great Spirit Ranch; Malibu
What: A tasting of 10 different chocolate purveyors, from Theo to Intentional Chocolate, plus spirits, coffee and chocolate meditation.
How: $45 per person in advance.
2nd Annual Taste of Mexico
When: Friday, November 30, 6 p.m. - Saturday, December 1, 12 a.m.
Where: Vibiana; 214 S. Main St., Los Angeles
What: Besides the live mariachi and cooking demonstrations, some of LA's favorite Mexican chefs and restauranteurs will offer tastes of their most popular dishes. The line up includes: Monarca Bakery, La Casita Mexicana, Guelaguetza, Rivera, and Frida's. Mixologist Pablo Moix and Baja wineries will also be there.
How: Pre-sale tickets start at $50.
