This news is either really good or really bad depending on how much you like apple martinis. Lola's, the 16-year-old West Hollywood restaurant and bar frequented for its broad selection of cloyingly sweet martinis, is closing. The eatery underwent mild cosmetic changes earlier this year, in addition to an ownership switch, but clearly that wasn't enough to sustain the business. Lola's, which also claims to have invented the apple martini, will continue to lubricate patrons for the next few months, but by next summer John Terzian and Brian Toll of Bootsy Bellows and SHOREbar will have rebooted the Fairfax property into two separate venues. Details are still scarce but expect both restaurant and nightlife components. [EaterWire]
Update: This deal is not yet official, paperwork still needs to be signed.
