Highland Park Kitchen Might Be Changing Hands

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

It looks like the 10-month-old Highland Park Kitchen might be flipped into another venture. An ABC notice on the restaurant's window shows a change of ownership from Rudy Martinez to Apophenia, LLC, with a new dba name called Sonny's Hideaway. Restaurant staff claims that it's simply the building's management changing hands, but an insider source says that a deal for the restaurant has been in escrow for three weeks. No word yet about the potential new concept other than a one David Eric Lyons is involved.

The full 47 license on York Blvd — which allows the sale of beer, wine, and spirits to be served alongside food — would be a hot commodity. As of this weekend, Highland Park Kitchen was still serving, though it seemed appeared for brunch service.
