Nothing much has changed from the outside, but inside Rick's Tavern on Main Street in Santa Monica has cleaned up its act. Last spring Howard Alpert acquired the neighborhood bar and, over the last half year, without ever closing the place down, he gave the venue a cosmetic remodel with new paint, booths, hardwood flooring, and flat screen TVs. Also new furniture on the back patio. The bones of Rick's remain, but with a streamlined new look. A few additional updates are still planned like more artwork and a shelving structure for the back bar.
With the updated look comes a revamped menu from chef Jeremy Caldwell (WP24). Most plates are under $10 and would seemingly pair well with a beer and football game. Think wings, sliders, burgers, that kind of stuff.
