Tapenade, a Well-Groomed Mediterranean Place in WLA

Not to be confused with the unrelated Tapenade Restaurant in La Jolla, this is chef Ressul Rassallat's Tapenade, a California-Mediterranean tapas place soft opening tomorrow. It's a sleek, modern number, with an open kitchen, black banquette seats and chairs, three communal tables, a semi-private dining room for 16, and an overall angular look. Though one would never know it from the shots above, Tapenade is located in The Olympic Collection on Olympic at Sawtelle, a surprising upscale addition for a mall complex. To match its European menu by way of Cali, expect six craft beers on tap, plus wines (8 to ten whites, 14 reds, two rosés and some Champagne) from the California Coast, France, Italy, and Spain. Hours of operation to run daily from 5 to 11 p.m.
