Maccheroni Republic, a Neighborhood Italian Place, Now Open Downtown

Jean Louis, original owner of Locanda Veneta on 3rd Street (he is no longer involved with the restaurant), is behind Maccheroni Republic, an affordably-priced Italian pasta place now open on Broadway in Downtown. The unfussy indoor/outdoor restaurant is geared to locals and also serves rustic soups, salads and larger plates in a cozy 1,600 square foot space that previously housed Kalbi Gogo. With pastas starting at around $8, Maccheroni Republic is a sure boon to the nabe. Hours of operation run Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
